Sea View Sees Growth

Sea View Coaches has added four new NEOPLAN Tourliners to its fleet, which was already mostly MAN based.

The Company, now in its 47th year of business, operates 24 vehicles from its Poole premises, running touring services throughout the UK and across Europe. Given its strategic position on the South coast, Sea View also finds steady work for its fleet in cruise and airport transfer operations as well as in corporate and executive transport.

The decision to choose NEOPLAN was, according to owner, Dave Tarr, an easy one. He said, "We have had MANs for many years and they are a damned good product without any shadow of doubt. So, for me, the NEOPLAN option is simply the luxury icing on the well-proven MAN engineering cake. To be honest, vehicles of this quality help me to get a good night’s sleep, knowing I can count on their performance and reliability.

"Our Service Engineers also say that they are an excellent feat of engineering, designed to be easily accessible, with everything in the right place. Just as important, our passengers absolutely love them. I’ve even had customers say that they’re so smooth on the road, it’s like being on an aeroplane!"

Dave Tarr had help with his latest acquisition from his Accountant and Bank Manager. "I took them both to the Coach Show last year to look at vehicles and get a feel for the cost of operation. They’ve both been with me for years, but neither realised just what was available and at what cost. We stopped for a bite to eat on the way back and they both told me I should buy new vehicles and sell off the older ones in the fleet." Sea View has always been keen on keeping its fleet profile young, so Dave Tarr needed no more urging.

The new vehicles have already proved a valuable addition, with Dave acknowledging that, "People see us with new vehicles on the road, especially coaches like the new NEOPLANs, and it gives them the confidence to call us for bookings. I have no doubt that this is down to the age of the fleet and the way in which we maintain it. You can‘t buy better advertising".

Alongside running Sea View Coaches, Dave Tarr has been a keen speedway racing fan for many years. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that Sea View makes regular runs to Europe carrying fellow fans, all following the local team, Poole Pirates. Indeed, so keen is Dave on the sport that Sea View has long been a sponsor of the team.

He says, "Speedway is great entertainment and something all the family can enjoy, so we get some really good bookings for these special trips. As Poole is such a seasonal area, it also helps extend the season for us". Needless to say, passengers on these trips very often find the Sea View ‘governor’ himself is right there with them on the coach!
